These days helping others is very important. Natural disasters have ravaged our world, unemployment is running rampant and every where you look, someone needs help.
Reaching out is exactly how the Women’s Bean Project began. Started in 1989 by Jossy Eyre, a volunteer at a local day shelter, Women’s Bean Project began transforming the lives of women. Their mission: To change women’s lives by providing stepping stones to self-sufficiency through social enterprise. The early beginnings were simple – a purchase of $500 worth of beans and putting two homeless women to work. Today the Women’s Bean Project has grown to a million dollar operating budget helping women from all walks of life overcome the effects of poverty, homelessness to find self confidence, a new path and job skills. Women’s Bean Project empowers women.
The products you can purchase at Women’s Bean project include Gourmet Food, Gift Baskets and handmade Jewelry. Each product is prepared and packaged with care by the program participants. Each purchase helps these women break the poverty cycle.
The Gourmet Food is a delectable selection. They have expanded the variety to include:
Bean Soup mixes
Dip Mixes
Cornbread mix
Organic Fair Trade Coffee
Cookie and Brownie Mixes
Salsa Mixes
Spice Rubs.
Courtesy of the Women’s Bean Project I received a lovely Soup and Cornbread Bundle. Inside this beautifully packaged bundle is Toni’s 10 Bean Soup, Six Bean Soup and Golden Cornbread Mix. A special touch is the signature of the woman who took the care to assemble the bundle so perfectly. Thank you very much April! Both the bean soup mixes can be made in the crockpot, which I love. I made the six bean soup mix for my family and everyone enjoyed the flavor. A little ingredient additions such as water, diced tomatoes and water ever vegetables or meats you would like to add, make this soup to your taste likings. I added celery and zucchini plus a bit of bacon for flavor. It came out so delicious. The Golden Cornbread Mix was the perfect side to have with the bean soup. All we had to add to complete the meal is a small salad. Buying one of the gourmet gift sets and making it for your family is a meal you can feel good about for more ways than one.
The jewelry designs are stunning too. Each is a handcrafted limited edition. Check out all the gorgeous styles.
Make a purchase to help the Women’s Bean Project help others. Foods, jewelry or gift baskets, the selection is good and the real good comes from helping!
